Guided by knowledgeable locals, participants navigated the winding streets surrounding the temple, discovering hidden eateries and street food stalls. The aroma of roasting spices and frying batter filled the air, teasing the senses.The first stop showcased Kaara Paniyaram, crispy rice balls filled with spiced potatoes, served with a side of tangy chutney. Next, visitors savored Halwa, a rich, velvety dessert, and Potato Masal, a flavorful curry. Thennakuruthu, a traditional Madurai snack, and Paruthipal, a creamy milk dessert, delighted the taste buds.As the walk progressed, the group sampled Athirasam, sweet pancakes, and Keeravadai, sweet and tangy paniyaram. Steamed Rice and Raagi Puttu, accompanied by coconut chutney, provided a comforting contrast. The grand finale was Jigarthanda, Madurai's iconic cold dessert, refreshing and sweet.Throughout the walk, local storytellers shared tales of Madurai's culinary history, myths, and legends.
