Sri Roopala Sangameswara Swamy Rathostavam

Jagannatha Gattu Temple is also known as Rupala Sangameswara Temple located on Jagannatha Hill near B.Thandrapadu in Kurnool district. This temple is dedicated to Lord Siva. The shivalinga is of 6 feet height and 2 feet in width which is made up of granite stone.It has a notable history from the yugas. Once Pandavas visited Sri Mallikarjun swamy temple and then came to this place. As Sangameswaram is at the confluence two sacred rivers they thought of praying Lord Shiva at this sacred place. Dharmaraja asked Bheema to bring a Sivalinga to install at this place. By the time Bheema returned with Sivalinga, Dharmaraja made a Sivalinga from Neem wood and installed it. The other Sivalinga brought by Bheema from Kasi Kshetra is installed at some nearby place. Later these two Lingas are called Sangameswara and Rupala Sangameswara Temples. As per this legend it is believed that the Sivalinga at this temple is installed by Bheemsena of Pandavas. Sangameswaram village was surrounded by beautiful stone temples like Sangameswara and Rupala Sangameswara.  At the time of construction of Srisailam dam all the temples were demolished, stone artefacts and idols removed to different places while Sangameswara temple was allowed to remain at the original place. Rupala Sangameswara temple was relocated on Jagannatha Hill near Kurnool city
