Raghavendra Matt is Descend from Jagadguru Sri.Madhavacharya through Vibhudendra Tirtha. The Raghavendra Matt was founded by Vibhudendra Tirtha in 15th Century in Kubhakonam. So, earlier the Matt was made popular as Sri Vijayendra Matt after Vijayendra Tirtha by Sudhindra Tirtha, A disciple and successor to the pontificate of Kumbakonam Math. The Idol of the Moola Rama is worshipped in this Matt. Its headquarters are now in Mantralayam, Andhra Pradesh, althogh they used to be in Nanjangud, Karnataka. This Mutt is highly respected among Hindus all over the world. The Matt was later named after Raghavendra Matt. Other common names still include Dakshinaadi Matt or Vidya Math. Mantralayam is well connected by road and Train. Situated on the banks of the river Tungabhandra. Mantralayam is famous for the Samadhi of the well known saint Sri Raghavendra Theertha. The temple built over 300 years ago,attracts a large number of followers and devotees. Distance lying from Kurnool is 100 kms and from Hyderabad 256 kms.
