- including a large contingent from India & Nepal.
The aim of this festival is to promote adventure
tourism and help establish Meghalaya as one of the major water sports
destinations in the world. Meghalaya, one of the wettest regions in the world
and due to its unique natural geography, contains a large number of rivers
seeped in folklore that are ideal for white-water kayaking and exploration for

The
Megha Kayak Festival will feature Olympic approved disciplines such as The
Giant Slalom , Extreme Boater-cross and Time-Trial Races. Aswell as separate
competition categories for intermediate and novice kayakers
Another unique facet of the Megha kayak Festival is that the
focus of this event is to encourage female participation in adventure sports.
Thereis no state better placed in the country to lead the way than Meghalaya -
owing to its strong feminine cultural heritage. Toward this, the organisers will
invite at least 6 of the worlds best female kayakers, conduct women centric
kayaking workshops and also provide discountedparticipation fees to women
