This Maridamma Amma Vari Jatara is held every year from Amavasya in the month of Jeshtha to Amavasya in the month of early Mai Ashada with great splendor for 37 days. Many devotees come from all over the state to have darshan of Maridamma Amma. According to the temple committee, about 40,000 to 50,000 devotees visit the goddess on a single Sunday.Maridamma's mother, Chintapalli of Samarlakota, was their daughter-in-law. They are still acting as trustees here. As their caste deity, Velasi appeared in the town of Peddapuram and became famous as Varadaevata who protects not only the local people but also the entire Andhra Pradesh. It is customary to hold a fair for 37 days in the month of Ashadam every year. A rope of Uyas is tied to them by Amma before Paksh (fifteen days) of Bahulaika Jeshtha Amavasya. It is believed by the devotees that from the day of the fair until the end of the fair, Amma, her daughters and sisters dance and sing at the rope of the Uyya and watch the reigns of the devotees.

17th century in Peddapur, Shri Maridamma Amma emerged as the village deity very close to Manoji's pond. Presently the place where the temple of Maridamma Matla is located is a log. Once in that forest, a 16-year-old girl appeared to the herdsmen, and I was worried and told them that I am in this place. After seeing this strange thing, the cowherds immediately worried and told them everything that happened.
Before that, Maridamma Amma had appeared to Chintapalli in a dream and ordered a temple to be built for her near the Manoji pond. When all the members of the Chintapalli family searched the area around the Manoji pond, they saw the appearance of Ammavari on a yellow stick. This tree was enshrined here and started worshiping it by offering incense and offerings.
