Two-day 'Mango Festival-2022' organized in Patna, regarding the king of fruits, mango. The mango festival showcased varieties of mango from all over India. The aim of the Mango Festival was to encourage the farmers of mango in the state and help in increasing its yield so that Bihar progresses further in mango cultivation. At this event, Bihar Agriculture Minister Sri Amrendra Pratap Singh said that the Bihar government has taken many efforts of boosting Mango production in the state. We are providing subsidies of every kind with irrigation arrangements. Mango production is now being exported in high quantities. For production, we are supporting farmers in terms of marketing & equipment. We're trying to attract investors as well, to establish food processing plants for mango pulp.
There are mango orchards in Bihar covering an area of 1.60 lakh hectares, where about 15.50 lakh metric tonnes of mangoes are produced. This year, 4.5 tonnes of organic apricot mango has been exported from Bhagalpur to Bahrain, Belgium and England in collaboration with APEDA.
There are exhibitions of different varieties of mangoes. At the same time, the king of fruits is a best variety here for mango lovers. He said that in the Mango Festival, 2022, farmers and entrepreneurs from around 2,558 exhibitions of mango and its products from different districts of the state took part. Bihar Agricultural University, Sabur, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bangalore.
He further said that the exhibition will showcase the medieval varieties of mangoes like Langra, Krishnabhog, Dasheri and late ripened varieties like Fazli, Sukul, Sepia, Chaisa and others, hybrid varieties of Amrapali, Mallika, Sindhu, etc. Pusa. Arunima, Ambika, Mahmud Bahar, Prabha Shankar and Biju along with processed mango products can be seen. To make this festival interesting, mango carving competition, mango eating competition and mango fancy dress competition are being organized.
