The Pulicat Lake surroundings were turned into a beehive of activity with tourists, children, and local villagers arriving to celebrate the Flemingo festival, which kicked off to a colorful start at Sullurpeta, Atikanithippa, Nelapattu, and BV Palem locations in Tirupati District of Andhra Pradesh. The annual festival rejoices in the arrival of waves of migratory birds to Indian shores to breed, nest, and feed, presenting a feast for the eyes of birdwatchers. For decades, bird enthusiasts and visitors have come to Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary and Pulicat Lake to watch these birds wade and catch food in the shallow lake waters. This annual festival aims to attract tourists from the world over and bring people close to nature. The festival also had entertainment activities in the evenings.

Flemingo Festival
At the main festival venue in Sullurpeta town, exhibition stalls featured various departments like forestry and animal husbandry.
Lots of varieties of birds, like flemingos, which arrive far off from Siberia and the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, were seen in the lake.
Visitors, including schoolchildren, visit the Nelapattu bird sanctuary, which is one of the festival venues. Pelican migratory birds are a visual feast as they flock together, nesting on the baring trees.
