Dumboor Lake is a
charming water body located in Karbook & Gandacherra Sub Divisions 125 km
away from Agartala. The lake is shaped like a small drum, ‘Dumboor’ of Lord
Shiva from which the name ‘Dumboor’ originates. The area of the lake is 41
sq.km and there are 48 Islets inside the lake. The surrounding hills and the islets
are enchantingly emerald green and present a captivating scenic spectacle.
Winter attracts hundreds of migratory birds of wild variety attributing the
lake status of a wetland habitat much to the delight of ornithologists and
tourists. There is a hydel project near the lake. The Lake is on confluence of
rivers Raima and Saima. The river Gomati originates from the area is called
Tirthamukh where a big fair (Mela) is held every year during Pous Sankranti on
14th January. Boating facilities are available in Dumboor Lake. In
one of the Islet “ Narkel Kunja” has been developed.

Activities
The entire area will be decorated during the
festival by setting up of arches, gates, columns etc. good number of banners,
flex and scroll will also be displayed in and around surrounding Dumbur area as
well as in Dhalai Tripura and Agartala. Very recently, some Jet-ski, FRP made
speed boat, motor boat has been given from Tripura Tourism Department. Boat
race also successfully organized and local community are also involving various
water events like boat race and angling. Dumbur has been identified as a
Adventure Sports activities like Water-ski, Jet-ski, boat race, banana boat,
water cycling, rowing activities. These kind of Adventure festival will be
boost Tripura Tourism in a vast manner.
