46th Session of the World Heritage Committee

"The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Ministry of Culture, has been entrusted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to hold 46th Session of the World Heritage Committee (WHC) Meeting at New Delhi from 21-31 July 2024. India has been given the honor of hosting this prestigious meeting for the first time.  The 46th Session of the WHC, comprising of 21 State Parties to the World Heritage Convention, is responsible for selecting sites to be listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites including World Heritage List and List of World Heritage in Danger. Current members of the 46th Session of the WHC, elected in the 24th General Assembly of UNESCO, are as follows:  Argentina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, India, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Lebanon, Mexico, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Rwanda, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Senegal, Türkiye, Ukraine, Viet Nam, and ZambiaThe Committee meeting and two other forum meetings viz the Site Managers Forum (18th to 25th July 2024) and Young Professionals Forum (14th to 23rd July) are expected to be attended by more than 2000 delegates comprising diplomats and technical experts from 195 member countries, as well as officials from UNESCO, World Heritage Centre, Advisory Bodies of UNESCO, and International NGO’s, academicians and professionals.
