BACKGROUND PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry aims at creating a strong platform to exchange best practices, discuss challenges and opportunities in the Cultural and Heritage Tourism sector.
Building on the previous 12 editions, this Conclave will focus on the importance of safeguarding our shared cultural heritage for future generations, while also exploring innovative approaches to tourism that minimize negative impacts on these sites and the surrounding communities.
OBJECTIVE
• To bring together all the stakeholders on one common platform where they can share ideas to promote Cultural and Heritage Tourism
• To promote Heritage Tourism across the globe in a sustainable manner keeping in view the carrying capacity of the destinations
• To create a platform for tourism boards to showcase the cultural and natural heritage sites of their states/ countries
• To provide a platform for private sector investors to discuss issues and opportunities affecting investment for the Heritage Tourism sector in India
• To invite suggestions or recommendations to improve the business skills and global best practices to preserve Indian heritage

12:00 PM – 12:30 PM Case Study 1: Lal Bagh Palace, Indore Lal Bagh Palace, Indore is Madhya Pradesh’s most iconic 19th century building and is considered as an important historical site from the neo-classical era. It was built by the Holkar dynasty which was among the most powerful Maratha rulers of India. The architecture of this palace reflects the contemporary vogue among Indian royalty, of European-influenced architecture and is in the Italian Renaissance Revival Style. The interiors of this palace were restored to their former glory with the support of IndigoReach, the CSR arm of Indigo Group.
