Activities

1.            HOI

Hoi is performed during the festive and spiritual occasions of Rialo and Yilo which ari the root of SiiDonyiYilo. Yilo is the   grandest spiritual ceremony with intricate rites and rituals of SiiDonyi concept of Tagin belief system and is generally performed in grand marriage ceremony for solemnization of bride and bridegroom The efficacy and overall influence of the blessings chanted through the Nyubu (Priest) is not restricted within the atmosphere of the bride, bridegroom and the family concerned, but also have far and wide spiritual influence covering the whole clan folks and the region.

 

2.            KUNYIBOKAR.

Kunyibokarwhich is also calledPajok in common and literal termis a type of traditional dance performed by the male folks during marriage ceremonies by both the bride and bridegrooms’ parties in the predetermined receiving point (where both parties meet) with selected members to show happiness, courage and superiority without any vocal sound in a rhythmic body movement enacting aggressiveness. Kunyibokar is mainly performed to ward off the evil spirits which are believed to be lurking around the marriage ceremony which may cause ill effect to the participants of the marriage entourage, especially the bride and the bridegroom. In Kunyibokar, the participants wear full war dress and dance aggressively enacting the rial fight of warriors. The participants who are divided into two opposing groups or, sometimes in dual, carry out mock combat to give an impression that happens in rial fight between the warriors. Though this a glance of the real combat of warriors of the bygone era is presented to the spectators.

 In the context of SiiDonyi festival, it is performed to ward off the evil and malevolent spirits are lurking around the celebration ground and to protect the guests and the participants. While it is performed to ward off the malevolent spirits, it also gives great entertainment to the spectators.

 

3.            TAKAR GVNV

TakarGvnv is a folk-dance which is performed by young girls and which metaphorically depicting the stars performing celestial dance to appease the AtuSii and AyuDonyi for the well-being of entire universe and to protect the human race from famine, earthquake, landslide and all other natural disasters. This dance form is performed specially in SiiDonyi festival.

 

4.            ANYI CHUUNV

 

AnyiChuunv is a female angel who was immensely endowed with the art of dancing.  Once her vanity got better of her and she developed the bad habit of dancing meaninglessly in a coquetry manner thereby ignoring AtuSii who created her. Atu Si felt offended and turned his back because of which the activities of heaven and earth came to a grinding halt causing chaos everywhere. Later, on the advice of Doringchijing, AnyiChuunv along with Achi Riabu started dancing and finally appeased and made AtuSii happy thereby bringing back the life to the universe again.

Thus, the AnyiChuunv dance is performed by young girls in traditional costumes during SiiDonyiYilo to appease AtuSii and AyuDonyi to get pardon for the mistakes committed by the human beings. At the same time, this dance is a prayer seeking blessings from the AtuSii and AyuDonyi for universal wellbeing of human race and all the living creatures of earth.

 

5.            ACHI RIABU

 

Achi Riabu is a male angel who was immensely endowed with the art of dancing.  Once his vanity got better of him and he developed the bad habit of dancing meaninglessly in a coquetry manner thereby ignoring AtuSii who created him. Atu Si felt offended and turned his back because of which the activities of heaven and earth came to a grinding halt creating chaos everywhere. Later, on the advice of Doringchijing, along with AnyiChuunv, Achi Riabu started dancing and finally appeased and made AtuSii happy thereby bringing back the life to the universe again.

Thus, the Achi Riabu dance is performed by young boys in traditional costumes during SiiDonyiYilo to appease AtuSii and AyuDonyi to get pardon for the mistakes committed by the human beings. At the same time, this dance is a prayer seeking blessings from the AtuSii and AyuDonyi for universal wellbeing of human race and all the living creatures of earth.

 

6.            SII HOMV

SiiHomv dance is performed in a group by young girls in SiiDonyi festival. This rhythmic Si-Homv folk dance is displayed to express the happiness, joy, and pray to Atu Si, AyuDonyi and deities for universal wellbeing.SiiHomv literally means the daughter of Sii, the god of earth, that is, Sii means AtuSii - the earth god and Homv means unmarried daughter. SiiHomv dance is performed during SiiDonyi festival to express happiness, harmony, prosperity and, also to pray to AtuSii, and AyuDonyi for blessing to entire human race.
