Shachukul Kabgyat
Shachukul (translates as ‘the far-east’) is a village situated 125 km to the east of Leh town and 45 km from Pangong lake. The Shachukul monastery is affiliated to Drikung Kagyu sub-lineage of Kagyu ‘oral transmission’ lineage. Monks from this block who are studying in different parts of the country make it a habit to attend this two-day festival held at the Shachukul gompa. The monks of this monastery follow the Drikungpa sect, which has other major monasteries at Phyang and Lamayuru.
