The “YOMGO RIVER FESTIVAL” is one of such mega festival events organized by the District Administration of West Siang district, Aalo, in collaboration with the Department of tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh which synchronizes with grand manner. The three days celebration shall take place at the bank of Yomgo river. It is a lively festival where tourists and other visitors warmly greeted in the trade fairs and other traditional functions. The main purpose of the celebration of Yomgo River festival is to highlight the vast potentials of tourism in the state and to attract Indian as well as foreign tourists. Eco-tourism is the most recent trend in tourism where stress has been laid on exploring the simple and uncomplicated life of the interior parts of the country. Many a times it has also been referred to as ‘rural tourism’. Therefore, by organizing such festivals, an attempt has been made to promote eco-tourism in the state. Yomgo River Festival becomes one of the major attractions of West Siang District for tourists like Ziro Festival, Adventure@Mechuka etc. Since, this festival is celebrated in West Siang District which is entirely Galo area and has unique traditional form of dance, music etc., the main attraction of the festival are Cultural, Musical Gala festivity in which Evolution of Galo tribe is shown in a authentic and traditional way as mentioned below:1. SONG: Performance of Galo contemporary songs by singers and ponu song and also fusing in modern galo songs are showcased. Documentary of Galo singers is made by inviting good and renounced singers.
2. DANCE: Galo community is very rich in Traditional form of dance. As such, by focusing purely Galo on culture the festival show case only Galo traditional dances.
3. FOOD: the major focus of festival is on showcasing Galo traditional food. During the festival, organizers call or invites food bloggers and food ethic by arranging excellent traditional food from all over the district. In this way using this festival the villagers advertise local traditional food of Galo Tribe on National Television which becomes one of the main attractions of festival to promote tourism.
4. TRADITIONAL PRACTICES: During day time Mopin or Wedding kind of a celebration are there where specifically somebody who is a blogger or Traveler are invited to participate in that festivity with everyone. The main purpose of the celebration of
Yomgo River festival is to highlight the vast potentials of tourism in the

almost fed-up with the day-to-day hustle and bustle of the metro life and want
to seek solace in the laps of Mother Nature. And Arunachal Pradesh is the
‘Hidden Paradise’ waiting to be explored by the people. No other state in the
country offers such vast potentials for tourism as Arunachal does. Eco-tourism

Apart from that the festival show cases many other activities like how poka is
made, how ornaments or traditional attires are made etc. Textile and Handicraft
Department establish live museum for show casing the making of traditional
attires like Gale, Tamgo, Igin etc. which continues till the end of festival.
CULTURAL PROGRAMME
Dancers and singers in their best
traditional attires represents various tribes of West Siang District. The state
performs their selected numbers and items blended with colour, music and gay
rhythm unfolding the respective ancient tradition and cultural heritage. Thus,
dancing to the tune of musical instrument is an important part of life of
tribal people. A competition of traditional dances of the state makes the
festival a real colourful one.
TRADITIONAL FASHION SHOW
Arunachal Pradesh is the homeland of more than
26 major tribal people who have a rich cultural and vivid tribal traditional.
During the Festival, the tourist gets the glimpse of the traditional dresses of
people from various part of Galo, Adi, Memba, Bokar, Pai-Libo, Ramo and Tagin
tribes.
