The prestigious three-day 'Tapti Festival' is being organized by the Department of Culture, Government of Madhya Pradesh, in collaboration with the District Administration Betul and the Municipal Council of Multai, from January 14 to 16, 2025, in Multai. The objective of this event is to spread awareness among the people about the Tapti River that originates from Multai District Betul . Many stories are mentioned in the Indian Puranas about the birth of Tapti River . According to those stories Tapti is considered the daughter of Surya According to another legend Maharishi Durvasa left the heaven at a place called Devalghat through a tunnel in a rock situated in the middle of the Tapti River. Suryaputri Maa Tapti is one of the two major rivers flowing in western India. Keeping in view the cultural importance of Tapti River the Tapti Mahotsav is organized by the Culture Department Government of Madhya Pradesh. In the cultural events of the three day festival, presentations of Panthi folk dance, Akhara folk dance, Barei folk dance, folk singing, Pandwani singing Shakti worship of Ram, dancetheatre Tatya dance, Gedi dance, Nimadi folk singing are performed . Along with this Kavi Sammelan is also organized with the eminent poets litterateurs of the country.

Activities
On the first day of this prestigious festival, January 14, the program will commence with a "Badhai" folk dance performance by Nadeem Rain and team from Sagar. This will be followed by a Lavani folk dance performance by Ms. Parinita Risbud and team from Thane. The evening will conclude with a mesmerizing light music performance by the famous singer Pawandeep Rajan and his group from Mumbai.
On the second day of the festival, January 15, the first performance will feature Bundeli folk singing by Ms. Kamla Lodhi and her team from Chhatarpur. This will be followed by a Kanara folk dance performance by Vishnu Kewat and his team from Sironj.
The day will conclude with a poetry recital (Kavi Sammelan), showcasing the works of renowned poets, including Shashikant Yadav from Dewas, Dinesh Babra from Mumbai, Ms. Manu Vaishali from Delhi, Ms. Preeti Pandey from Prayagraj, Dinesh Diggaj from Ujjain, Sumit Mishra from Orchha, and Pushpak Deshmukh from Multai.
On the final day of the festival, January 16, the first performance will be a dance drama by Ms. Sakshi Sharma and her team from Delhi. This will be followed by Bagheli folk singing by Nurag Tripathi and his team from Bhopal.
The festival will conclude with a soulful Bhajan performance by Ms. Asha Vaishnav and her team from Ahmedabad.
