Sangken Festival
The Sangken Festival celebrated by Theravada Buddhist marks adieu to the old year and a warm welcome to the new year. PoiSangken festival is celebrated through splashing clean water, which is the symbol of peace and purity. The statues of Buddha is taken out and after the ceremonial bath. The procession is accompanied by drums, dances and enjoyment. The holy bath of Buddha is an auspicious event in the festival. The celebration takes place for three consecutive days. During the celebration the locals make homemade sweet and distribute them.

1. Celebrated in every village's temple of namsai District and some areas of changlang and in Itanagar Buddhist temple.
2. Splashing of clean water in Buddha Statues, peepal tree,etc.
3. Praying near statues before offering(splashing) of clean water to the Buddha Statues and temple.
4. Homemade sweets are made by the villagers and distributed to others.
5. At the time of 3 consecutive days of event all the types of shops are closed.
6. It is a peaceful ritual event so no harmful practices are done by the people.
