Ratha Saptami is a significant festival celebrated at the Arasavilli Suryanarayana Swamy Temple. Ratha Saptami usually falls on the seventh day (Saptami) of the bright half (Shukla Paksha) of the Hindu month Magha. It is a special day dedicated to Lord Surya, the Sun God.
On Ratha Saptami, devotees traditionally believe that the Sun God began his chariot journey across the sky. Special rituals and pujas are performed at the Arasavilli Suryanarayana Swamy Temple on this day to honor Lord Surya. Devotees gather to offer prayers, perform rituals, and seek blessings for health, prosperity, and well-being.
During the festival, a procession of the deity on a chariot is a common sight in many Sun temples, symbolizing the journey of the Sun God. Devotees often take part in this procession, and it is considered auspicious to witness or participate in it.
