The Charm of Rajasthan Comes Alive at the Abhaneri Festival 2025
Rajasthan, the land of royalty, heritage, and timeless traditions, invites you to immerse yourself in one of its most vibrant cultural celebrations – The Abhaneri Festival 2025. Scheduled for 26th and 27th September 2025, this two-day extravaganza unfolds at the awe-inspiring Chand Baori Stepwell in Abhaneri, Dausa, a site renowned worldwide for its architectural brilliance and historical significance.
The Abhaneri Festival is more than an event – it is a journey into the soul of Rajasthan. Here, the desert state’s legendary folk performances, traditional arts, crafts, cuisine, and cultural splendour come together against the backdrop of one of the deepest and most beautiful stepwells in the world.
A Festival of Culture and Celebration
Visitors are welcomed by the soul-stirring rhythms of Rajasthani folk music and the graceful movements of traditional dance forms such as Ghoomar, Kalbeliya, and Bhavai. These performances narrate stories of valor, love, devotion, and everyday life in Rajasthan, leaving audiences mesmerized with their colour, energy, and authenticity.
Artisans from across the state display their finest creations, offering a glimpse into Rajasthan’s rich heritage of handicrafts, textiles, and jewelry. From intricate pottery and mirror work to block printing and traditional paintings, the festival provides the perfect opportunity to experience and take home a piece of Rajasthan’s artistry.
The Magnificent Setting – Chand Baori
The festival’s venue itself is a timeless wonder. Chand Baori Stepwell, with its 13 storeys and 3,500 perfectly symmetrical steps, is one of the largest and deepest stepwells in the world. Built over a thousand years ago, this architectural masterpiece not only served as a water reservoir but also as a social gathering place for the local community. During the festival, the stepwell comes alive with lights, decorations, and cultural performances, offering visitors a surreal blend of history and celebration.
Experiences Beyond Performances
In addition to music and dance, the Abhaneri Festival also features puppet shows, folk theatre, and traditional games, making it a wholesome experience for families and travelers alike. Visitors can indulge in authentic Rajasthani cuisine, from dal baati churma to ghewar, served with the warm hospitality that Rajasthan is famous for.
Guided tours of Chand Baori and the ancient Harshat Mata Temple are also organized, allowing visitors to explore the region’s historical treasures while engaging with local traditions and legends.
