Kanipakam temple

KANIPAKAM: “KANI” means one and a quarter land and, “PAKAM ” means the flow of water into the land i.e., irrigation. This temple has a legend which runs as follows in brief. There are three Handicapped brothers Dumb, Deaf and Blind and all the three used to live by cultivating a small piece of land. While so, when two of them were engaged in padding to lift water through a channel to their wet land, after some time they came to know that water in the well was over. The indication of this was recognized as KANIPARAKAM – ultimately called KANIPAKAM which is the Tamil Transcended (Derived) word.
