Srirangapatna Dasara

The festival was started in 1610 by Raja Wadiyar in Srirangapatna, which was the capital of the Wodeyar dynasty at the time. The festival was celebrated with a grand procession that passed through many areas of the town.  The historical, annual Srirangapatna Dasara was celebrated in a grand manner, complete with the procession of folk troupes and Jamboo Savari in the town.  The procession passes through Kiranguru, Baburayanakoppalu, and Bengaluru-Mysuru highway, Kuvempu Circle, Bypass Road opposite Jamia Masjid, Rajabeedhi, Ambedkar Circle, and Mini Vidhana Soudha and reached Ranganathaswamy temple. Srirangapatna Dasara festival showcases the rich Heritage, culture, Tradition of old Mysuru Region.  The Srirangapatna Dasara is a notable celebration in the Mandya district, particularly renowned for its historical significance and cultural richness. During the Srirangapatna Dasara, the town comes alive with vibrant processions, cultural performances, and religious rituals. The highlight of the festival is the grand procession that features elaborately decorated floats, traditional music, and dance performances, showcasing the rich heritage and cultural ersity of the region.
